Have you ever heard the expression “it’s what it’s”? What does that expression mean exactly?
Before I understood the deeper meaning with this expression, I envisioned an emaciated yogi guru in the lotus position floating above the bottom imperiously imparting wisdom that will take scholars multiple lifetimes to interpret. Seeing as how that is my last life on earth and the lotus position would put me in traction, I knew that consulting the Course In Miracles would help me clarify its meaning.
What is the IT that people are currently talking about here? In line with the Course in Miracles, IT is truth, specifically God’s truth. Exactly why is it crucial that you a course in miracles podcast emphasize that it’s God’s truth? Because God’s truth is not available to interpretations whereas a human’s truth is. Multiple versions of human truth have cause many religions. The Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia defines religion as a “system of thought, feeling, and action that is shared by way of a group and that gives the members a subject of devotion.”
Who devised the system of thought? On whose feelings are these thoughts based? Are actions really necessary? In line with the Course In Miracles, God just is and our ultimate goal is to go back to a great state of being. There is no thought or action in their state to be, you only are. What must not be forgotten is the underlying thread of religions: God is creator, God is love and we are all perfect and infinite children of God.
Put another way, “it’s what it’s” could be rewritten to “God’s love is the sole truth and it’s absolute” and this truth knows no bounds and is timeless.
